Farmer's Brewery Building
We Bought It!
Farmers Brewing Company opened in 1915. Its products included Farmers Lager, Shawano Pilsener, and Shawano Club Beer. The brewery was forced to close in 1920 due to constitutional prohibition, and did not re-open until 1934. In 1948, the firm contracted to produce beer for Van Dyck Brewing Company of Chicago. The relationship between the breweries soured, litigation ensued, and Farmers Brewing Company closed shortly thereafter. Van Dyck operated in the building from 1948-1950. Floyd Hartwig, the creator of Twigs Beverage Inc., started his career as a bottler in a building adjacent to the brewery. When the Farmer's Brewery Company began to exit, Floyd made an offer on a building across the street, which has become and still is Twig's Beverage, Inc. As a company, we recently bought the brewery with the goal to renovate the building over time and revive a part of our history.
We'd love to hear your ideas for the building as well as what to call it. Stop in and let us know or give a shoutout on our Facebook Page @ The Farmer's Brewery
